2000 PRESS RELEASES
RUMIKO TAKAHASHI TO ATTEND COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL SAN DIEGO!

San Francisco, CA (5/12/00)-Viz Comics is proud to announce that Rumiko Takahashi, the creator of the manga and anime Ranma 1/2, Inu-Yasha, Lum*Urusei Yatsura and Maison Ikkoku, will attend Comic-Con International 2000 in San Diego, California on July 20-23!

Takahashi debuted in English in 1989 with Lum*Urusei Yatsura. This is only the second time that Takahashi has attended Comic-Con. At her first visit, in 1994, hundreds of fans lined up for autographs and sketches. In 1995, she was nominated for an Eisner award for "Talent Deserving of Wider Recognition." In Japan, over 100 million copies of her work have been sold, making her Japan's-and the world's-bestselling female comic artist. The English versions of all her series are available from Viz Comics. Her works have provided the basis for three long-running animated TV series and over eight animated movies, almost all of which are available in the U.S. She has worked in genres from romance to horror, humor to action. "By now it should be common knowledge that (Rumiko) Takahashi is one of today's greatest comics storytellers," says Comics Buyer's Guide. Anodyne magazine says, "Takashi makes it fresh and amusing, time and time again."

Also present at Comic-Con will be Gerard Jones (The Haunted Man, The Trouble with Girls), the English rewriter of all Takahashi's works, as well as Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and assorted Pokémon titles. For further information about Takahashi at Comic-Con, check upcoming Comic-Con programming schedules, or visit the Viz Comics booth at Comic-Con for the latest info.
